How to get to Orchid Valley
From Durban to Underberg:
Take the N3 to Howick and take the Bulwer / Southern Drakensberg turnoff. Follow the R617 to Underberg.
Estimated Drive Time: Approximately two and a half hours from Durban
From Johannesburg to Underberg:
Pass Midmar Dam and take the next exit to Howick/Bulwer and go right under the freeway. Follow the R617 to Underberg.
From Underberg to Orchid Valley Lodge:
Drive through Underberg town for approximately 3 km. Turn right along the Drakensberg Gardens Road. Travel for 17 km along this road, on your left you will see a small sign with “Orchid Valley”. Turn left down a dirt road, travel over a log bridge, turn right over the bridge and follow the road all the way up the mountain to the end of the road.
Please note that the road to the lodge is a dirt road so a 4x2 is preferable.
